Take one painting is the very first VFX module of the Digital Effects MA of the National Film and Television School.
The aim of the workshop was to extend the built parameters of the set – in collaboration with the Production Design and Cinematography departments – using CGI set extensions, green screens and digital visual effects. It proves research of the historical background of the painting and attention to period furnishing and architectural detail. It was be based on the collaboration with design & cinematography students for the lighting of the set and the shooting of a short piece of action. Digital set extensions were made to accurately match the action filmed. Each student provided a personal interpretation of the same shot, showing evidence of an understanding of the VFX Pipeline plus good skills in Maya, Arnold and Nuke.
